The time is 1948, in the Deep South of the United States just prior to the civil rights movement. Having demolished another car, Daisy Wertham - a wealthy Jewish widow with an acerbic tongue, is forced to employ Hoke Colburn, a thoughtful unemployed black man, as her chauffeur. Their initial impressions of each other are not favourable, but in scenes spanning a quarter century we witness their mutual dependence and growing respect.
Driving Miss Daisy, a touching drama by Alfred Uhry.
